Per a post by someone at TM a few months ago, when a laborer becomes available to work, he takes the next available job. The main thing to remember about laborers is the way their logic works. This led to my suspicion that an overseer is needed to "link" laborers to a certain project, but that the amount of laborers needed is determined by the project itself. One would expect the laborers to quit their job after a while, but they did continue building the pyramid, without an overseer in the city. Worse: Pharaoh died, prestige dropped, no replacement available until a new rise in prestige. After a while my one overseer, set to construct the piramid, left the city discontented. I don't think they would continuous work on the pyramid, but they didn't immediately quit and go home." I've even seen the laborers continue building the pyramid when I've switched their overseer to quarrying steles. Of course, several of them may decide to run off to the hospital after a haul - back breaking work building pyramids. The laborers seem to keep going until they tire, go home, make sure the wife has the house in order and do the whole thing over again. He just has to "activate" them by walking to the site ocassionally. Is it possible that the amount of laborers is determined by the construction project?
